ROLL CALL INDICATED:
PRESENT: Mesdames Burry, Johnson, Erhardt, and Messrs. Kilbride and Stuart
ABSENT: Mesdames Joline and Hager and Messrs. Rodetsky
ALSO PRESENT: Mesdames Buck
Mr. Harold Kilbride made a motion to approve the minutes from the November 28, 2000 meeting and this was seconded by Mrs. Brenda Johnson.
Mr. Robert Cooke, architect for Folio Glass, came before the committee with architectural plans. The plans consist of expanding the existing building and a new building for offices. The total acreage is 2.67 acres. He wants to keep the country style look for the building. He also has plans to dress up the rear of the building so that it doesnÕt have the appearance of the back of a building. He wants to create a courtyard benefiting the existing store. The roofing will be timberline or wood line. He wants to achieve a clappered or shingled look; it is more of a matter of economics than looks. Mrs. Brenda Johnson feels the shutters on the existing building make the building look better and he should use these shutters on the proposed building. Mr. Cooke will come before the committee again once the changes become finalized.
Mrs. Janet Giunco came before the committee with plans for a private home to be built on the vineyard and winery on Hillsdale Road. She wants to keep the existing driveway off of Crine Road to use as a person driveway. The front of the house will face the vineyard while the woods will be on the other three sides. She would like to put up a small wall with steps to get into the vineyard. They would like to do the house in stucco, but have the first 4 to 6 feet in stone. The home is a little over 7,000 square feet, with a studio over the garage. The committee members approved the plans.
Mr. Kevin Straub came before the committee with plans of leasing the Apache Tomato property. There are 6.5 acres of land and the building is 75,000 square feet. He would like to spruce up the existing building by encasing the current columns with a rounder column. Mr. Stuart feels the new brackets look nautical, not colonial. He also feels that by installing a cupola it would give the building some height. Mr. Straub has no definite plans for the sign, but he would like to have a green oval sign with carved letters. He will come before the committee with the new changes.
Mr. Ed Brock and his architect came before the committee with site plans for the existing building on Brock Farms. The roof is leaking so they want to replace it with a new roof and walls. They want to remove the overhead doors and replace them with picture windows. They want gray or beige vinyl siding with a brick apron up to 3 feet 6 inches. They want to make the cupola bigger and taller. They want to fix the cashier stand. The parking lot and the building are going to stay the same square footage as it is now. These changes are going to happen in the summertime. The committee members unanimously agreed with the plans.
Tony and Margaret Mancini came before the committee with plans to build at the end of Millbrook Road and Stoney Creek. They want to build their home on 1 of the lots and they donÕt know what they will do with the other lot. The intended house is 4,500 square feet not including the 3-car garage. They want the house to have a vinyl look and possible brick in the front of the house. Mr. Mancini is going to be the builder for his home. They then showed the site plans. There is a brook that runs off the property with a 50 Ð foot buffer off the brook. Their property slopes down to the brook in the back but the other property goes upward. There is a slope because of the cul-de-sac that was put in. The committee members unanimously agreed with the plans; however encouraged the use of wood as opposed to vinyl. In addition, special care should be given to the set back requirements for any additional fixtures.
Mrs. Lillian Burry showed architectural plans for the Biava home. They want to build a front porch. They want to enlarge the existing garage that is detached. The house is currently 1 _ story, but they want to expand it to 2 _ stories. The committee felt the design was in keeping with the village look of the neighborhood, however the size of the house in relation to its neighbors must be considered.
Mrs. Lillian Burry showed architectural plans for the Rutkin home on 31 Rivers Edge. They want to add a 600 square foot deck to the pre-existing house. The proposed deck will not interfere with any regulations. However, the committee members feel that the deck sticks out too much on the side.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM; Mrs. Judy Erhardt moved the motion and the committee members unanimously agreed.
The next meeting will be held on January 23, 2001 at 5:30 PM at Town Hall.
See attached reports.
