      1. Committeewoman Burry called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.
      2. With the addition of Mil Kobrinski as a judge in the flag competition, the minutes of May 2, 2000 were accepted on a motion by Mrs. McGowan and seconded by Mrs. Furey.
      3. Thank you note was received from Betty Thompson for the flowers. An Asbury Park Press article reported that grants totaling $3,130,430 were awarded to 52 recipients, six of whom are in the shore area, including Allaire Village, Historical Society of Ocean Grove, and Monmouth County Historical Association and the Burrowes Mansion in Matawan that Mrs. Burry was once associated with.
      4. Mrs. Burry declared that "everyone has cause to be proud" of "Colts Neck Celebrates Its History" held on May 19 and 20, which was a great success despite the weather. Although only one trolley appeared for the house tour, a limousine and a van were substituted. Mrs. Plumfield had the Conover Road students keeping a guest book, which will be turned into a data base for future mailing list. The dinner at HuddyÕs and the candle-light tour received rave reviews, and the photos will be put into a scrapbook of the event. Of the $8,000 budgeted, $3,000 remains due to in-kind donations keeping costs down. There will be a resolution earmarking these funds for the rig parade. The same accounting procedure will be used, i.e, all checks should be made payable to Colts Neck Township Historic Preservation Committee.
      5. Mrs. McGowan reported that the Committee will have the same space at the Fair as last year, shared with the Historical Society, Open Space and Farmland Preservation. There will be four tables and chairs. A LairdÕs whiskey barrel will be raffled. She suggested selling a coloring book advertising the rig parade. Kinkos would print 100 copies for $400, and they could be sold for $8 each. The Huddy books will also be sold, and the Historical Society sells note cards. Displays could include the 1850 map, old photos, the deed of incorporation of the Township, and a sample of the plaque awarded to owners of historic properties. A letter will be sent to all recipients, requesting photographs of each home, and a part of the house or something special inside the house.
      6. Mr.Kilbride is working to substantiate dates for 10 remaining homes which probably belong on the 1850 map. He wants to put the name of the oldest known owner, and of the current owner. The latter might be on a separate list.
      7. Mrs. Burry presented a personnel roster for the rig parade, which is made a part of these minutes. Invitations have gone to Eastern state rig owners with a deadline for RSVP. Expenses can be figured once the number of participants is known. Mr. Burry will do a spread sheet. Sponsorship funds, both corporate and local, will be sought. A map of the route of the parade will be included in the next Township newsletter.
      8. Meeting adjourned at 6:46 PM on a motion offered by Mr. Kilbride and seconded by Mrs. Plumfield. The next meeting will be on TUESDAY, JULY 11.

        Respectfully submitted,

        Ellen Terry
