  1. Committeewoman Burry called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.
  2. The minutes of June 8, 2000 were accepted on a motion by Mrs. Trost and seconded by Mrs. Davis
  3. Mrs. Burry reported on the resounding success of the Historic Celebration on May 19 and 21. John Vig suggested to her that the articles in the Colts Neck Journal be reproduced on the Township web site. Mrs. Trost will ask permission for this. The Colts Neck Calendar will report in a special color issue in August.

Mrs. Piotrowski is assembling a scrapbook of the Celebration. Many people have asked if it will be repeated. Because it was a celebration of 300 years of history, the entire event will not be repeated in its entirety, but the Hayride could be done again as a single event, and the House Tour could be an annual event. They were both sell-outs. Elizabeth Van Mater offered to do a story hour at the Colts Neck Library, at the libraryÕs convenience. The budget report, attached and made a part of these minutes, indicates approximately $3,000.00 remaining, with only a few bills outstanding. Unpaid vouchers should go through at the Township Committee meeting of July 27.

  4. Mr. Kilbride reported that there may be more eligible homes than the number of plaques budgeted for this year. There are 15 plaques remaining, and there may be an additional 35 homes. He will deliver those to the recipients who were not in attendance at the awards ceremony. Each house must be carefully researched, as some may have been overly modernized.
  5. Mrs. Burry reported that on Saturday, October 14, from 9 AM Ð 4 PM, the Monmouth County Library is holding "Archives and History Day 2000." There will be speakers, awards, exhibits, workshops, symposia, a video and a tour of the Monmouth County Archives. The Committee is invited to have a table at the event, for a charge of $15.00. As the Committee has had so many accomplishments in two years, it was agreed to have a table. Mrs. Burry will coordinate the table. The event is free to the public and lunch costs $7.50. Two complimentary lunch tickets are included, and the Committee will pay for lunch for members who wish to attend. Twelve members signed up to attend.
  6. Mrs. McGowan is coordinating the booth at the Colts Neck Fair in August. Letters are going to all recipients of historic properties plaques, requesting photos or artifacts for display there.
  7. Mr. Kilbride reported that Mr. Cooke is having an enlargement made of the base map. Mr. Cooke told Mrs. Burry that he can have the map completed by September. Mrs. McGowan has a second master. She is supposed to do sketches for the perimeter. She has given some of Mrs. FazewskiÕs sketches to Mr. Kilbride. Mrs. Burry will speak with both Mr. Cooke and Mrs. McGowan.
  8. Mrs. Furey reported that Mr. Cerullo, the guiding force for the rig parade, had surgery on July 6, and is still in Cornell Hospital. So far, six applications for the parade have been received, but she has sent out more applications, and Helene Dunn is probably going to get more rigs involved. Mrs. Burry reported that the subcommittees have been meeting. Mrs. Trost will coordinate the layout and printing of an ad journal. Ads will cost $500 for a whole page, $250 for a half page, and $125 for a quarter page. Eight ads have already been sold. Tents will be used at Dorbrook for the breakfast and luncheon. The barn at the golf course has been offered without charge for the cocktail party. Mrs. JolineÕs friends who own The Happy Apple Restaurant in Upper Freehold Township will donate some hors dÕoeuvre. Mrs. Boylan and Mrs. Plumfield are coordinating childrenÕs awareness, and will display the parade route on a large map at the school.
  9. Meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM on a motion offered by Mr. Kilbride and seconded by Mrs. Trost. The next meeting will be on TUESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2000.

Respectfully submitted,

Ellen Terry

Secretary
