  1. Mayor Burry called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.

  2. Minutes of September 7, 1999 should reflect that Mrs. Furey was present. Mrs. Burry suggested three semicolons be added to the description of sign locations for clarification. At the bottom of page 1, Mrs. Boyle should be Mrs. Boylan. On page 2, the last two sentences of the first paragraph should be moved to the second paragraph between the first and second sentences. The guest’s name is Mr. Cooley.

  3. Mrs. Trost displayed the art work for the historic properties plaques. She has requested delivery by November 1, and will call and remind Mr. Moriarty next week.
  4. Plaques will be presented to property owners at the Township Committee meeting of November 10. A party for the recipients and the Township Committee members will be held on November 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Mr. Kilbride’s home. Letters to the recipients will be sent by Mayor Burry in order to inform them of the meeting, and suggest that the plaques be hung where they will be visible to the public. Mrs. Furey will write the invitations by hand for the party. Mr. Kilbride will supply names of current property owners and street numbers. Invitations will include both the trust which currently owns Holly Bush, and the last owners, Mr. & Mrs. Conover .

  5. Mrs. Burry’s daughter’s friend is ready to silk screen the Township flag. Mrs. Trost will call Michal and request a firm date for completion of the design. Michal has designed a whimsical flag for commercial purposes.
  6. Mr. Kilbride still hasn’t found a place to have Mrs. Fazewski’s map enlarged. It needs to be doubled in size in order to hold all the information. Mr. Piotrowski suggested Kinkos, and Mr. Cooke suggested trying Eddie’s behind Dorns for enlargement.

  7. Mrs. Burry and Mrs. Joline reported that the Architectural Review Committee reviewed the application for the golf course club house at the former Flock Farm. The barn and one silo will be preserved. The other silo was sent to Pennsylvania’s Amish country. The Committee felt the preservation of the barn and its conversion was consistent with Colts Neck’s agricultural history.
  8. Mrs. Burry reported that the possibility of preserving Holly Bush Farm as a Township property might not be impossible with the $630,000 matching grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. She has enlisted Senator Bennett’s aid in this regard. The project could be handled through an independent foundation. She has not seen Harry Barth of the Honey Shop in order to talk about the future of his building.
  9. Mrs. Piotrowski contacted several towns which have had centennial celebrations, and each one has spent at least a year preparing for it. Most start with a design or flag or emblem. Having opening, monthly, and closing celebrations, and sell tickets for each event. These towns have included all the organizations within their towns, such as schools and churches. Many of these towns have formed foundations for their centennials. Ideas such as parades, a ball, and a house tour were discussed. If there will be a foundation, it must be formed very soon. Mrs. Burry will speak with the Township attorney about it Mr. Clarke, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Joline, Mr. Kilbride, Mrs. McGary and Mrs. Piotrowski volunteered for the Tricentennial Subcommittee.
  10. Mr. Piotrowski made copies of the photographs which were displayed at the last meeting. Mrs. Burry requested that he create a collage of his photos for the new library, which will open on December 10.
  11. Mrs. Plumfield reported that she bought a Colts Neck plate for $3.95 through the Internet auction, from someone in Florida who had bought it at a garage sale. Mrs. Whitney saw them for sale at the Collingswood auction.

  12. Mrs. Joline offered a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. McGarry. Meeting adjourned at 6:53 PM. The next meeting will be held on MONDAY, November 1, 1999, at 5:30 PM, due to the use of Township Hall the following day for elections.

Respectfully submitted,

Ellen Terry
